šŸ‘‹šŸ¼ I'm Peter Zhao šŸ‘¦šŸ»; I am a thinker, explorer, and visual communicator. I am dedicated to creating meaningful experiences, solving business problems, and bringing positive impacts to users. With over 8+ years of industry experience, I've transitioned from a craft-driven creator into a system thinker and problem solver. Iā€™ve been able to apply my human-centered design philosophy to translate company visions into viable and pleasurable products. In my role, I led the strategy and design, took multiple products from 0 to 1, implemented design systems, led design teams, and worked with cross-functional teams to adopt UX best practices into scrum ceremonies. From an early age, I've had a deep yearning to understand the 'why' and 'how' of everything, and experiment with new ideas. Iā€™m not one to shy away from the unfamiliar and never satisfied with ā€œjust good enoughā€. Iā€™m always looking for new lessons to learn, new stories to hear, new dots to connect, and passing on that learning. Outside of work, Iā€™m an enthusiast cinema photographer, die-hard techie, toys collector, and a huge proponent of new experiences through adventure.

Regenerative Product Design - An Ethical Framework for Planetary-Centric Design
1hr
In a world where technology shapes our future outcomes, ethical design is not just a choice; it's an imperative. This talk will present a practical Framework for Planetary-Centric Design, entirely developed by Gabriela L. Lorenz and Betina Mazzarino. Itā€™s a framework for regenerative product design, rooted in the principles of Permaculture. Permaculture is a systemic eco-design, a compass to navigate the complex interplay of creativity, innovation, economic viability, and social and environmental responsibility. Using this framework we are expanding our view of the world as designers, shifting the focus from user-centric to a broader, holistic, planet-centred approach. This talk is for designers, founders and investors that want to create better products for a thriving world.

Chaos Pilots: Steering Your Career & Leadership Through Uncharted Waters of Change, Uncertainty, and Complexity
Times are a-changin' for the modern job seekers, people managers, and leaders across all industries and stages of their careers, where confronting the storms of change and complexity are now a regular occurrence rather than the rare occasion and exception. Those who can embody and embrace their inner "chaos pilots" will be the ones who can navigate their way through the waves of uncertainty and unclarity--not just for themselves in their own careers, but also to help shape the work and professional growth of others as people managers, mentors, and leaders to help them thrive even in the midst of challenges. From Kim's early career experiences pivoting from legal and corporate affairs to PR SaaS/tech and marketing consulting; to building and launching multimillion-dollar, go-to-market strategies in new territories and expansion markets for highly-regulated organizations and entities across the U.S. and globally, Kim will share real-life career and leadership stories "from the trenches" that anyone can apply regardless of industry, job title, or level. As a former psychology major, Kim is also passionate about tapping into the human potential through the science of neuropsychological behaviors and mindsets from a multi-disciplinary perspective, especially in the age of AI and automation--including applying the business theory of Blue Ocean strategy in a tough job market, unstable economic conditions, and a turbulent election year that seems to be increasingly at odds against our individual and collective successes, as well as leveraging philosophical, cultural concepts such as kintsugi for career satisfaction, leadership innovation, and deep personal/professional transformation.
