Prior to joining RBC, Hector worked in consulting at top advertising and digital agencies, where he built and managed creative service and marketing practices for clients including Fortune 500 companies and major league sport franchises. He founded the discount usability movement for fast and cheap iterative design, including heuristic evaluation and the 10 usability heuristics. He formulated the eponymous Jakob’s Law of the Internet User Experience. Named “the king of usability” by Internet Magazine, “the guru of Web page usability" by The New York Times, and “the next best thing to a true time machine” by USA Today. Previously, Dr. Nielsen was a Sun Microsystems Distinguished Engineer and a Member of Research Staff at Bell Communications Research, the branch of Bell Labs owned by the Regional Bell Operating Companies. Jim Lane is Senior Director of Product Design for CNN Digital Revenue, Growth and Commerce products. In this role he leads design for advertising and other revenue products, customer lifecycle management, messaging and newsletters, and CNN Underscored. For over 25 years he has led teams in both startups and large organizations such as Netscape/America Online, AddThis (acquired by Oracle Data Cloud), Contactually (acquired by Compass), and Virtru, a data protection and privacy startup. Jim is also a mentor, coach, and community organizer. In 2012 he founded NoVA UX, a Meetup group for user experience professionals in the Northern Virginia/DC metro area which offered monthly speakers, workshops, and other UX-oriented events.

Kevin has three decades of design experience. He cofounded an agency, freelanced, and was involved in multiple startup ventures. He then built and led product and design teams at Verizon, 23andMe, and LinkedIn. Along the way, he co-authored more than twenty web and mobile technology patents and worked for a pop star. Kevin continues to serve as a consultant, mentor, and coach in the design community. He also recently coauthored the "Design Career Handbook".

With over 17 years of experience in product design, UI engineering, and data visualization, he leads multidisciplinary teams of designers, researchers, front-end engineers, and product marketers to deliver intuitive, high-converting solutions. Previously, Kevin was the Global UX Director at Glovo, Director of Product Design at BookClub, and UX Team Lead at Booking.com, where he managed award-winning design teams of up to 105, launched innovative products, and scaled customer-centric strategies. He is also a seasoned instructor and global public speaker with courses at GrowthTribe, General Assembly, and Georgetown University.
